Shelby's Senior Portrait Session | Lake Michigan, Maywood Park in Sheboygan, WI


When I met with Shelby and her mom for her senior consultation, we talked about locations. In addition to Lake Michigan, she knew she wanted to include not only Maywood Environmental Park, but also the bridge at Maywood because she grew up going there. I love incorporating places that hold special memories because they make your senior photos even more personal and meaningful. Those little personal touches are what make a senior session uniquely yours. She even wore her favorite color, pink....this location was perfect for her. Another favorite part of Maywood was the gorgeous flowers! They were the perfect backdrop for an outfit change.

You never know what you are going to get when photographing along the shores of Lake Michigan. There was a layer of fog that just rolled in before we started her session. But the soft light created the dreamiest backdrop, especially when paired with Shelby's black dress. I personally feel like the peaceful water perfectly reflected her calm, kind personality. Sometimes the simplest locations make for the most stunning portraits.

Shelby was completely up for an adventure and was open to jumping into Lake Michigan to end her session. She certainly embraced the adventure! That's exactly what I hope every senior takes away from their experience. While your session is a photoshoot, I hope it feels more like an evening spent hanging out, making memories. Whether it's revisiting a meaningful childhood location, chasing the sunset along Lake Michigan, or ending the night jumping into the water, your senior portraits should tell your story in a way that's authentic to you.
